I specialize in portraits and personal stationery and am primarily at work on a collection of pop culture-inspired Tarot prints, collectively known as She Can Lift a Horse Tarot.
“Will you create a complete Tarot deck?” is the question I’m asked most often and the answer is: I don’t know! I love exploring the archetypes of the Tarot through art, including illustrating Reversals, and I love that these prints are used and gifted outside of readings to serve as reminders of specific energies. So a deck isn’t my primary desire for these works… but I do hope it will eventually morph into one.
I received my B.A. in Art History and Visual Arts from Barnard College. Prior to freelancing full-time, I loved the time I spent working as a children’s bookseller for various independent book stores in NYC and Chicago.
While my work has primarily been digital, in the past year I’ve taken on a multimedia approach that combines drawing materials like colored pencil, wax pastel, watercolor, gouache, pan pastel, and ballpoint pen, along with Procreate and Photoshop.
I live in a 1920’s bungalow in Ferndale, Michigan with my husband, daughter, and two cats. I love life drawing and Zoom-based drawing communities (I think Patreon is the most genius thing on the internet), dolls, stickers, vintage ceramics, witches, letting children finish my sketches, my local cafe, and I’m happiest when I’m watching my family walk down the street together.
